Tithes and Offerings Part 3

Last blog I defined the words commandment and tithe. This blog I will be writing about how we are to present our tithes to God. First, our motives must be right. Our motive should always be to honor God for who he is, not to recieve a blessing or to get stuff from him. It should also be done because we love him and that love is shown by obeying the commandment he gave to tithe. Malichi 3:10a says "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house." kjv. Other examples for the right motive when tithing are: 1. For the work to be done in God's kingdom and 2. For the advancement of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Next, God gave specific instructions of what  condition the sacrifice presented to him should be in. The sacrifice presented was to be without blemish. Read Leviticus 1:10, 3:1, 4:3, and 5:18. In Matthew 5:23-24 Jesus tells us to leave our gifts(sacrifices/offerings) at the alter and settle any issues(if any) with our brothers or sisters  before we present our gifts(sacrifices) to the Lord. Apostle Paul describes what condition the bride(church) must be in when she is presented to Jesus at his coming. Ephesians 5:25-26( focus on verse 26 for clarity). God, has now established a precedent (ruling) in his holy word of what condition the sacrifices are to be in when they are presented to him. This ruling also appies to tithing. Just because we put our tithes on the offering table or in the plate or basket. Does not mean they were accepted by God. A blemish is a symbolic reference to SIN. Therefore our tithes will not be accepted by God if there is sin in our hearts. They will not be accepted if we have been committing and practising sin throughout the week without asking for his forgiveness for those sins. God through his grace revealed to me a solution to help us. Every believer should take a moment and first forgive others. Next, ask God to forgive us for our sins that we have committed against him knowingly and unknowingly. Lastly, we should ask him to accept our tithes. In fact, Every Pastor and those who officiate the tithe and offering part of the service should allow the members of their congregations a few moments for this process. Lastly, in 2 Corinthians 9:7, Apostle Paul points out the proper and improper attitude in giving. We should not give our tithes to God grumbling, complaining, or murmuring. Neither should we give because we're in need of something or to recieve a blessing(stuff) from him. We are to give willingly with ALL joy and cheerfulness of heart. We serve a holy and mighty God who is worthy and deserving of ALL glory and praise. Let us strive at ALL times to give our tithes to God with the proper motive. In good spiritual condition of hearts and minds, free from sin, and With the proper attitudes.
