Welcome readers to offering part 2. Last week I wrote about offerings in a general sense and showed the differentiation between a tithe and offering. Now we are going to delve into this subject matter more specifically. The following areas will be covered like:
- The proper condition of our giving a offering to God.
- Who should be giving an offering to God.
- What sources our offerings are to come from?
A. Like our tithes,
offerings should be given to
God FREE from
ANY blemishes(
SIN). Please!!! Read the following verses of scripture:
Leviticus 1:10, 3:1, 4:3, and 5:18. As a matter of fact,
ANYTHING that we present to
God is to be
HOLY(
undefiled, free from Sin). We are to
EXAMINE our
motives and purposes for giving our
offerings to
God. Are we giving to show off? Or are we giving to recieve a blessing or some other
material want or desire from
God? How about
GIVING because we
love and
honor HIM for who
HE IS. Also we should have a
TRUE desire for the things of
God and
HIS Kingdom as well as the work to be done in it here on earth. Giving our
offerings to our
LORD and our
God should be done with the
proper attitudes of thanksgiving for the opportunity that he spared our lives to give. Futhermore, it should be done
freely and
willingly from our
hearts. Just like tithing, we should
ALWAYS come with broken and contrite hearts. Forgiving
ALL of our enemies, foes, and adversaries
REGARDLESS OF ANY WAY they have wronged or offended us.
Repenting of our sins, asking God for HIS forgiveness. We
MUST ensure that there are
NO lingering or unsettled DISPUTES with our brothers and sisters in the
Lord. This includes unresolved disagreements(
PLEASE!!! Read Matthew 5:23-24). If everything between us and our
Lord is in order, we should ask him to recieve our
offerings that we are giving so that
HIS work in the
kingdom of God could be accomplished. These things should be done in our homes in private prayer, worship, and meditation before we attend Sunday's Service. However,
ALL Pastors and Overseers should
ALLOW at least 5minutes for the members of their congregations to have time to set things in order with
God before receiving their
tithes or offerings. Our
OFFERINGS should
ALWAYS be more than our
tithes. Remember!!! Tithing is a COMMANDMENT and Offerings are a GIFT. Our
offerings is a
direct expression of our
LOVE for God honoring HIM for who HE IS. When we are able to, we are to give
God our BEST GIFT(offering, sacrifice).WILLINGLY we should give with
LOVING and CHEERFUL hearts. It is more of a blessing to give than to recieve and our
God LOVES those who are
CHEERFUL IN THEIR GIVING. Whenever we give it should
ALWAYS be done without expecting
ANYTHING in
return. We are to just be thankful that we had the
OPPORTUNITY to
GIVE. When we
MATURE to that level in our giving,
God will take the the top off of heaven and pour out an
OVERFLOW of BLESSINGS into
EVERY area of our lives. God Bless you ALL Greatly and Richly in ALL THINGS in Christ Jesus Our Lord. Glory to Elohim Forever and ever Amen.
