Word of God Part 1b: Teaching

    Grace and peace from God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, Welcome. We are continuing from our last week's lesson of the word of God series. I began this series discussing the purpose that the word of God serves in our lives. Our lesson will continue from the book of 2 Timothy 3:16 from the NIV. The first word from God's curriculum will be the word teaching, which would be taken from the NIV also.
  • Teaching(2 Timothy 3:16):  Webster's Dictionary defines this word as a doctrine or precept.While the Roget's Thesaurus defines this word as the act, process, or art of imparting knowledge or skill. The King James Version(KJV), has the word doctrine as the first word which carries the same meaning as the word teaching for this particular context of scripture. However I would be amiss not to include the word instruct which is synonymous with the word teach.  Instruct is defined as to give orders to. In other words to instruct someone is to direct them.
So when the Apostle Paul says that the scripture is for teaching this is what he was communicating to us(the church). The scripture(the spoken word of God recorded) is for imparting knowledge to the man and woman of God. Directing them on how to apply that knowledge taught to them, enabling them to apply and use that knowledge given them to their lives. As well as giving them an understanding on  how to walk in the ways of God. Next week we will look at and define the word rebuking. God Bless you ALL and love you dearly.

Being Defiled Part 1

  Kingdom Greetings, Brothers and Sisters of our beloved Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I appreciate you and love you all much and dearly in Christ Jesus.
