In His Image Part 2
Welcome all to my blog page and peace to all in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. We of the church really do not understand who we really are or know what it means for us to be created in the image and likeness of our Creator God. For the purpose of this lesson, I will be focused on what it means to be created in the likeness of God our Father.
In Genesis 1:26 we see that although God created us in his image he also created us in his likeness. God created us to rule EVERYTHING as well as govern everything in ALL areas and aspects life here on this earth as he rules in heaven. The only authority that we were under and subjected to was his own. Remember a disciple cannot be above his master but he can be as his master is. This applies to us as well, we can be as God is but NEVER could we or should we try to be above our God and Creator. God gave us the authority to rule over the all the creatures under the sea, on land, and in the air. God also gave us authority over the elements and nature itself in addition to changing circumstances in our lives as well The lives of others here on earth. Look at the mighty works of Moses as well as the Prophets of old. God through his Son Jesus Christ demonstrated that during our Lord's time on this earth. Jesus Christ says in John 14:12a "Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also." KJV
God also gave us the authority and power to create things as he did. Adam knew Eve, Abraham knew Sarah, Jacob knew Rachel, and Zacharias knew Elizabeth John the baptist mother. The end result was that they all became pregnant by a man and gave birth to children. This required the sperm of a man and the egg of a woman. This was not the case with Adam's third son Seth. It is very important to read Genesis 1:26-27 and Genesis 5:3. Like Adam, Seth was created. Adam was created in the image and likeness of God and Adam begat(created) Seth in his own image and likeness.
Next week's blog I will further discuss what I mean by God kind. Lastly, being created in the likeness of God relates to his person, nature, and character which is Longsuffering, patient, love, peace, righteous, holy, goodness, faith and just in judgement etc. John 4:24 our Lord Jesus Christ tells us that "God is a Spirit." So when both believers and unbelievers alike see us. The person, nature, and character of God our Father and Creator should be seen in our words, actions, and lifestyles. This blog will end with three questions for you to ponder. Are you God kind or mankind? Are you a spirit being or human being? and Are you a spirit or flesh? God bless you all in EVERYTHING with his peace, protection, blessings, and favor.
