Laws of Marriage and Divorce Part 4

Welcome readers to part four of this series. Our lesson this week will be coming from the book of Romans 7:1-3. In this portion of scripture Paul the Apostle uses as a metaphor from the laws of marriage to teach the mixed congregation of believers in Rome why believers in Christ are no longer under the law. The points that the Apostle Paul made are plain and clear:
  • That the woman is obligated to her husband and is under the laws of marriage and that marital relationship as long as he lives.
  • Once her husband dies she is no longer obligated to him or the marital relationship under the laws of marriage.
  • However, if her husband lives and she is married to another man(even if she was divorced from her that husband) she would be an adulteress and living in SIN. Even if she had legally divorced him for sexual misconduct.
  • If her current husband dies and she married another man, she will not be committing adultery. The death of her previous husband frees her from the obligation of marriage to him under the law of marriage and from that marital relationship.
Therefore, a man or woman can only!!! marry another person if their previous spouse dies. This includes a divorce that was legally done for sexual misconduct. It is only!!! legal for a man or woman to marry someone else in the eyes of GOD when their spouse dies(there is no exception or grey area). There are circumstances where GOD in his great grace, mercy, and compassion understands where a spouse would have no choice but to divorce or separate from their current spouse. Like abuse to that spouse or life threatening circumstances to that spouse or their children etc. However GOD WILL NEVER!!! break his word or contradict himself under any!!!! circumstances. All that being said anyone!!! divorced or separated from there spouse and engages in a intimate relationship or has sexual contact with another person during their divorce or separation is committing adultery. The laws of marriage applies to both men and women. Even to the spouse that did not commit any wrongdoing. GOD IS HOLY AND COMMANDS US TO BE HOLY.
I will conclude this weeks lesson in the following way: Be holy as GOD IS HOLY. Let us All abide by the laws of marriage "Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth to life, and few there be that find it." The words of our Lord Jesus Christ taken from Matthew 7:14. God Bless you ALL in everything.
