Laws of Marriage and Divorce(The Conclusion)
Our laws of marriage and divorce series closes with the Apostle Paul's instructions to the congregation of believers at Corinth.
1 Corinthians 10-11:
"And unto the married I command, yet not I BUT the Lord, Let not the wife dpart from her husband." KJV
"But if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband." KJV
The word reconciled in this verse is speaking in the context of going back to her husband. So should a husband or wife depart, separate, or divorce from their spouse. The commandment from GOD is for that husband or wife to remain umarried or go back to their spouse.
I would like to highlight a couple of points at this juncture. Which are:
- Paul is delivering a commandment directly from the mouth of GOD.
- This commandment applies to both a husband and wife.
- If a husband or wife should depart, divorce, or separate from their spouse they are not permitted to engage in another relationship or marry another person. They MUST!!!! either remain unmarried or go back to their spouse.
